The Theme for both 2012 Triangulation Anthology and Parsec Short Fiction Contest is Morning After

Triangulation shares an informal relationship with PARSEC's annual short story contest, and in past years Triangulation editors have been recruited as mid-round judges. Authors who do well in the contest may be offered publication in Triangulation solely at the discretion of Triangulation's editors. Note, though, that the PARSEC contest and Triangulation Anthology are two completely different publications; you can submit to one or the other or even both, but be aware that because they are different publications, they have different requirements and submission guidelines, including eligibility and word length.

TRIANGULATION ANTHOLOGY SUBMISSIONS: [CLOSED]

We will consider fiction up to 7,500 words. We are interested in publishing a wide variety of entertaining and literate stories, so the more space a story would take, the more it will need to impress us. We dig flash; there is no minimum word count.

We have no interest in getting more specific about the term "speculative fiction." Science fiction, horror, fantasy, magic realism, alternate history, whatever -- if there's a speculative element vital to your story, we'll gladly give it a read.

The submission period for the 2012 anthology will begin on January 1, 2012 and run through March 15, 2012.

PARSEC SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY SHORT STORY CONTEST SUBMISSIONS: [CLOSED]

Prizes and eligibility: The contest is open to non-professional writers (those who have not met eligibility requirements for SFWA or equivalent: sale of a novel or sale of 3 stories to a large circulation publication).

Previous First Place winners and current contest coordinators are also ineligible. The best story which uses the contest theme as a key element will be published in the Confluence 2011 program book, and the author awarded the first prize of $200. Second and third prize win $100 and $50 respectively. Stories may be considered for possible publication in a PARSEC INK publication.

Submission to the contest implies consent for publication, but all rights revert immediately to the authors upon publication. Coordinators screen the entries, and the best submissions go on to our panel of three Judges. Decisions of the judges and coordinators in all these matters are final.

Multiple submissions (maximum of 4) are allowed, but submit each one separately.

Format: Stories must be Science Fiction, Fantasy, or Horror genre. Stories must be original, unpublished, unsold and no more than 3500 words in length. Manuscripts should be double spaced. Judging is blind. FOR CONTEST SUBMISSIONS ONLY, PLEASE REMOVE IDENTIFYING INFORMATION (E.G. AUTHOR NAME, ADDRESS, EMAIL) FROM THE MANUSCRIPT PROPER. DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE IT FROM HEADERS/FOOTERS TOO.

The submission period for the 2012 contest will begin on January 1, 2012 and run through April 30, 2012.
